Important Myths And Facts About Colored Contact Lenses

Coloured contact lenses have ignited a bit of debate among contact lens users. There are many contact lenses users refrain from using colored contact lenses as they fear some flying rumors about the said device. They are basically afraid of the word “coloured” and rather than learning about the facts they tend to believe blindly in some baseless myths.

While the use of coloured contact lenses has been increasing significantly, the number of people who believe the myths about coloured contacts are also increasing.

That is why it is important really for everyone of us to conduct a proper research about everything we want to use. Believing in everything we hear and considering social media as the authority is very wrong on our part. If the flying myths were so true then the doctors and authorities would never suggest you such a device.

  1. COLOURED CONTACT LENSES WILL MAKE ME GO BLIND

The first and the biggest myth of them all, how will they make you go blind? Coloured contact lenses are just regular contact lenses with a coloured tint on them and that is not so bad. People believe that coloured lenses will damage the eyes and that would lead to blindness.

That would only be true if you are criminally careless about caring your coloured contact lenses.

All you need to do is follow the instructions on the packaging of your contact lenses and don’t do anything that would damage the lenses.

The only thing that coloured lenses such as red contact lenses will do is make you look beautiful.

  1. COLOURED CONTACT LENSES WILL CAUSE PAIN AND DISCOMFORT

Can you believe this? This is pretty much the same thing as making you go blind. Again, your colored contact lenses will not cause you any pain or discomfort. Usually people confuse the discomfort and pain with the getting used to the colored tint.

Yes, when you switch to colored contact lenses, you may feel a little discomfort for a few minutes because of the colored tint. You would only need to get used to the colored tint in the lenses.

That happens with everyone and it is nothing to get worried about. If they would have something wrong, then your doctor would never allow you to wear them.

So go out and wear your favorite red contact lenses as much as you like.

  1. CONTACT LENSES WILL STICK ON THE EYES

That happens only when you are extremely careless with using colored contact lenses, or any other lens for that matter. This actually happens when you wear the colored contacts for longer than the instructions allow. Or you just dozed off without taking out your colored eye contacts. These lenses only stick when your eyes dry out and because of that the lenses stick on the eyes. So if you are wearing them for longer periods, then you are hurting your own self by not following the instructions.

Make sure you keep using eye drops to keep your eyes and lenses wet enough to not stick on your eyes. And that is a fact.

  1. CLEANING CONTACT LENSES WITH WATER IS ALRIGHT

I don’t know from where they are hearing or learning this from but that is not advisable at all. Cleaning your contact lenses with water will only intensify the damage on your contact lenses. That would bring unwanted consequences for your eye health.

Water has micro-organism in it that can get on your contact lenses and in your eyes. That is why you should only use disinfectant solution to clean your contact lenses. This solution is specially made to clean your colored lenses.

  1. COLORED CONTACT LENSES WILL GO BEHIND THE EYE

That wouldn’t happen even if you are careless. It is not possible logically as your eyes have a membrane protecting it that would never allow anything to go behind the eye. You colored contacts sit on the membrane of the eye surface and would never go behind..

  1. COLORED CONTACT LENSES LOOK UNNATURAL

Colored contact lenses will look unnatural if you are going to buy low quality contact lenses. That is why it is important to invest only in high quality products from the best online or physical store. Do a proper research regarding the contact lenses store and then buy quality lenses.

Also, there is a little matter of choosing the right colour combination of coloured lenses for your eyes. You need to choose the colour and pattern of coloured lenses that would blend in with your natural eye colour. Not only that, you have to take into consideration your skin tone and hair colour before you choose the colour of the lens. You just can’t go ahead and buy anything you feel like. Take your time.
